Be sure to read our thread "Who is HILYMI?" and "Members Expectations" before reading this thread.

Short Summary of How it Works
(For those who don't want to read the fine details)

    1. Make and activate an account on these forums. (http://forums.hilymi.com/ucp.php?mode=register)
    2. Fill out the recruit application in it's entirety. (http://forums.hilymi.com/app.php)
    3. Notify an officer in game you have done so and you will receive an invite into the guild as a recruit.
    4. Spend 2-4 weeks hanging out in the guild, on our boards, in our vent, get to know us, and most importantly allow us to get to know you.
    5. Make sure that 5 people take the time to recommend you on your recruitment post. This is easy, just make sure multiple people get to know you and recommendations will come flying in. It is your responsibility as a recruit to make sure that members get to know you and that people give you recommends.
    6. After at least 2 weeks if there are no issues, you're promoted to member.

The Fine Details

APPLICANTS MUST NOT BE A MEMBER OF ANOTHER GUILD OF SIGNIFICANCE
Dual membership with alternate characters in a guild of significance is not allowed. "Of Significance" basically can be summed up by, if you think your membership and activity in that other guild would some how cause conflict, drama, or otherwise have a major affect on your involvement and ability to raid in HILYMI, then you probably shouldn't be in that other guild. In a nutshell, your character in HILYMI should be considered your main character and HILYMI your main guild. Contact a recruitment officer or guild leader for clarification if necessary.

APPLICANTS MUST BE LEVEL 70
The player's game character development is very important. If your game character is of insufficient development to participate in guild activities, then there is not much point in recruiting you and you would not have much fun. We also want to make sure that you will stick with the game and therefore we require you to be 70 for an invite into the guild. There are exceptions to the rule, mainly rerolls, server changes, new to the game, and other extenuating circumstances (ex. you talk with an officer and truly show your commitment to stick with the guild/game).

APPLICANTS MUST REGISTER/APPLY ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD
To join HILYMI as a recruit, you need to register on the website. Make sure to respond to the email confirmation. Then fill out our Recruit Questionnaire and post it in the New Applications section. Use the name of your character as the subject of your post and optionally class of your main character. To receive an invite into the guild, notify an officer that you have completed the online application.

RECRUITMENT PERIOD & RECOMMENDATIONS
This may seem harsh, but we take pride in HILYMI membership and it is not given lightly. Honestly our process is rather simple and if you're a good recruit you won't find it difficult at all. The recruitment period is 2-4 weeks. Everyone must spend a minimum of two weeks as a recruit and the maximum allowed is 4 weeks. During this time recruits are expected to be active in Ventrilo, participate in guild groups & events, and to be an active participate on the boards. If a recruit does not receive recommendations from at least 5 other members within 4 weeks, their application is denied and they are removed from the guild. Any HILYMI member can give a recommendation. If a recruit has shown progress, but has extenuating circumstances (RL got in the way, etc) then it is up to the recruit to state their situation to an Officer to get an approval for an extension.

WHAT IS A RECOMMENDATION?
A recommendation is a short, but meaningful post on a recruit's recruitment thread simply stating that you recommend this recruit to be promoted to member in the guild. This doesn't have to be long, but we ask for your post to be longer than "I recommend this person" or "He's got my vote". This recommendation should be a short description of why you believe this person should be promoted would be great. Remember, all a recruit needs is 5 recommends, so make your recommendation meaningful and have some thought put into it. Two to four sentences are really all we ask for.

PROMOTION TO MEMBER
It is really up to the recruit to make sure his/her recruitment process runs smoothly. After a minimum 2 weeks, and after the recruit has received at least 5 recommendations, they are then promoted to member status.

REMOVAL
If after 4 weeks, a recruit does not have the required 5 recommendations, if the recruit is close and active then we work with the recruit to ensure they get their recommends (usually by reminding them the importance of it). If the recruit is inactive or simply doesn't look like he/she will be getting those recommends, the recruit is sent this in game letter, removed from the guild, privileges removed from our forums, and their recruitment thread is archived.
Quote:
It has been longer than a month and you have not received your 5 required recommendations on your recruitment thread. Today I am removed you from the guild. If you are still interested in membership, please re-apply @ http://www.hilymi.com

RIGHT OF FAMILY
As has been tradition within HILYMI, we believe that brothers, sisters, cousins, parents, and partners should all should be given the privilege of a "no hassle" invite to the guild. What this means is that family members of guild members do not have to go through the 2-4 week process to get an invite into the guild. On the other hand, they are still expected to make a forum account, post an application on the boards (as a form of record keeping, formality, and introductory purposes), and are required to meet all the expectations of a member. If they cannot be held to the same standard as any other member, then they are best in another guild.

We all want to build a strong community of players that we can share World of Warcraft with. We take pride in our enthusiastic and active membership and look forward to our continued growth. If you need clarification for any of these policies or have any questions, please contact our recruitment officer or guild leader.

Added the little section specifically about how we handle removal.
